ABOUT THE BRITTANY
Meet the Brittany
A bird dog with a heart as big as its energy!

Originally hailing from Brittany, France, these dogs were bred to be the ultimate hunting companions: agile, clever, full of energy and a high prey drive.
They appear in paintings along side their hunting partners in the 17th Century. The breed was officially recognised in 1907 in France.

The Brittany is a utility gundog, in the field they are expected to hunt, point and retrieve. Utility gundogs include the German Shorthaired & Wirehaired Pointers, Hungarian Vizsla, and Weimaraner to name a few. Even though they look similar to the spaniel, Australia changed the breed name from the Brittany Spaniel to just Brittany in 1998 to reflect the utility nature of the breed.

Along side the Brittany's hunting abilities, they have also been awarded dual champions more than any other breed in the world. Proving they do just a well in the show ring as they do in the field or performance sport.
