"Skeet"
The spark behind it all — Proof that the right dog finds you
Skeet wasn’t my first choice — and sometimes I still wonder what would’ve happened if I’d waited for a pedigree puppy to become available. But this little backyarder stole my heart and turned out to be the perfect introduction to the breed. She’s the dog who led me into the world of dog sports, starting with NADAC agility — and honestly, she’s taught me far more than I’ve ever taught her.
She’s been a brilliant first Brittany. I wanted a breed more energetic than a Labrador... and I definitely got what I wished for with this little canine comet.
We started competing in NADAC after a judge told us to try agility. Once we discovered how to work together as a team, she thrived — even winning Highest in Trial at several clubs.
ANKC agility was a bit trickier to get into — a whole new set of handling skills and rules to figure out. But within a year, she had her novice titles in a few classes.
We’ve also been successful in tricks and rally. She's picked up qualifying scores and titles in both quickly and even made it to the podium a few times.
Skeet actually shares some family lines with Brie — being a champion runs in her blood. Not that she’d care. If you ask her, she does it all for her beloved ball… preferably one with a squeaker she can destroy.

Puppy Skeet
She was so cute with her patchy nose.

Skeet at our first agility trial.
She gained two qualifying rounds and a few placements even though her handler had no idea and she had never seen equipment before!

Skeet on casual point
Always with her paw up.

Diving Brittany
From an early age Skeet worked out if she leaped from the bank she could get to her ball quicker.

Travelling Brittanys
On our way to a trial. Paws up trick is great for staying focused and still for photos!
